The Minutes of the Council held on the 18th March, are read and confirmed.

His Excellency then draws attention to the Case of the Surveyor General (Mr. Monson), the papers in which had been already circulated to the Members. This case was found to be absolutely incapable, as His Excellency considered the explanations offered by Mr. Monson so unsatisfactory. There seemed to be no option but to call Mr. Monson before the Council to defend himself on the Charges which had been very reluctantly preferred.

The Secretary to the Government, Colonel Stirling, had sent for him this morning with a view to the Governor informing him of the serious opinion on the matter before the Council, but His Excellency was prevented through illness from receiving...
