Bray.
At the Bloomsbury County Court, Judge Bray gave an im portant decision in an action where bookmakers sought to renover back money. paid by
them.
Recently, it will be remember ed, Judge Rentoul at the City of London Court bold that book makers could recover money they hár paid by cheque. His deo- sion was based on an act of Wil liam FV. which has only to do with gaming. In the present onso the plaintiffs were Mesers. O. and D. Hooth, of Adelaide-street. Charing Cross, and they sued Misa Margaret O'Sullivan, & Court drosemaker, to recover £25 128. 10d. This amount, it was stated, was due and payable under an award made in October, 1912. In the alternative the plaintiffs claimed the return of money paid ›by them to the defendant. -
The defence was the Gaming Act of 1856 and 1892.
Mr Morte, for the plaintiffs, said defendant had received from the plaintiffs sums amounting to £40 She had only paid to them C14 14. Ml, and owod £25 12, 101. Even if els paid what was chimed ale stood the winner of 20 164, 31.
