Irish Secretary Accused. Mr Augustine Birrell, the Irish Secretary, received at Bristol a deputation of the local Trades Council, which, in violent langu- age, demanded the release of the Dublin strikers, accusing Mr Birrell of being responsible for "the brutal murders" in Ireland. Mr Birrell promised a judicial enquiry into the conduct of the Dablin police."
