I approve of the course found by Sir R. Inne Donnell in this matter, but it is to be regretted that more care was not taken by Gen? What feild to inform me of the debate in the council respecting the proposed increase of Salary. Such information was the more necessary as the administrator addressed to me a despatch recommending the course to be taken.
