The American Consul-General Mr E. A. Living, chairman of at Hongkong, in a recent report Matrionlation Board, informs us to the Department of Commères, | that the following gentlemen hava makes the somewhat startling been successful in the matricala- announcement - that garments tion examination. made from American cotton yarn exported to China are being im ported into the United States. This export trade, the Consul- General says, has resobed, a con. siderable volume, one factory reporting that almost half it entire output is being exported to the Waited States. "The largest concern engaged in this trade le the Weisan Knitting and Spin- ning Company, which is capable of producing, daily, from 100 to 120 dozen sweaters, or pieces of underwear and similar garments. The factory employs about 125 persons, mostly girls and young men, whose weekly wages range from 48 ceata to $4.40, gold, the greater number earning about $1, gold, far wesk.
