expedition was fitted out and on the 1st March Mr Batten accompanied by Chinese mandarin set off in the direction of Macao.

Just in Portuguese waters and inaccessible to the gunboats after the day one of the gunboats which Mr. Batten had expressly gone, but as a compensation for this, another pirate called "Si maila - hu" - half Chinese, half Portuguese - after being followed into Chinese waters was captured with his gunboat before he had time to make resistance.
