Some pirates were taken from the captured junk by the Police.

Precis of Inspector Batten's Reports 35
24th March, 1872.
1. About the end of October Inspector Batten went to Tam Shui village, about 35 miles inland from Sam Chun, to arrest a man who had stabbed a coolie. The stailau boat in which he went was nearly peppered down by two passenger junks, who it appears mistook his junk for one of two piratical vessels that had only a short time previously pirated a passenger junk.
2. Inspector Batten effected his return, and no further notice was taken of the rumours prevalent about piracy until the month of January when one of the stailau junks reported to have been captured about five miles from that place, the crew and passengers having been all put to death. Further enquiries were made, and information was elicited that at this time two pirate sahau junks frequented Sam Mun (which is situate off Mirs Bay, 35 miles N.E. of AH.) and were in the habit of attacking junks and vessels passing Mirs Bay.
