The Commanders in the first seizure referred to were named "Ling" and were two out of the right flifs of the Association, while in the latter capture the Commander was the notorious Se Malle also one of the right flifs.
Thus the Association is by these measures taken now as it was before those blows; it still exists and will probably soon be as strong again as ever if allowed time to recover from the blows inflicted on it.
On the other hand, if immediate measures are taken, it would seem profitable to crush the Association without any very great difficulty.
For at present the position of the Society is this: - The four "How-Rai" junks punishing after the capture of the two at "Your Ma. Se" are now ensconced in a piratical place of refuge called "Sha-Jui" far from Macao.
In personal command of each of those junks is one of the right flifs, while the remaining flif "Mini à do" who has already been referred to, is at present committing a great number of piracies in the large Fishing Suck - the other a smaller craft, both of which were captured about six weeks ago with the assistance of the Samiun pirates converting them afterwards into piratical junks.
