Particulars given in the British Vice-Consul's eport on the trade of the East of Sumatra in 1912, which will shartly be saved, shows the area under rubber at the end of 1911 was originally estimated at 130,000 acres, but Jater statistics show the actual figure was nearer 150,000 acres, As far as can be nacertained this area had inorcased to 208,000 foron at the end of 1912, of which 84,000 nores belonged to British .companies, 60,500 to Dutch com- panies, 27,500 to United States companies and. 27,000, to Bolgian
