that we can now manufacture on our premises the new Kryptok invisible bifocal Lens.
The old style of cement bifocals with their disfiguring and annoying dividing line has been supplanted by a new lens with two fooi,Į the upper portion of the glass for distance and the lower for reading, ground from one single piece of glass.
You who wear two pairs of glasses may now use one pair instead. No one can tell that you wear bifocals. Nocement to blister; no thin segments to lose off.
Call and inspect this line. We grind Kryptoks in regular or toric form.

- Finance in Germany, The tightness of money in Germany is not only of interest, but of importance and concern. to all the world. It is well known that Germany's war bud- get has been swelling to enor- mous proportions, and taxation is. becoming heavier year by year. At last Berlin's money market trembled on the edge of some euob situation as confronted the London Exchange in 1888 and New York during the panic of 1907, and was only saved by importing gold at a high rate and by the easing of all markets on the belief that the Balkan War is eading. People are asking what is the meaning of this state of thinge in a country like Germany
one of the wealthiest of Europe'a manufacturing and sup ply centres. A writer in the London "Daily Mail" attempts to account for the orisis, sign- ing himself "A Financiar." This clear and lucid observer iemarks: "The Berlin strin-. gency is traceable to the unsettled conditions on the Continent, aoting upon a financial position already strained by economic causes. The industrial develop- ment of Germany and the growth of its population and production have necessarily involved an in-. creasing demand for gold currency. Large sums of money have; moreover, been invested, in Commercial and manufacturing enterprises, for the fruition of which time must be allowed.

Penny-a-Word Telegrams: The charge for a telegram from | one end of Australia to the other more than three thousand miles is one penny a word, and it instantly occurs to one that if telegrams can be sent at this rate in Australia it is surely reason- able enough to expect it to be done throughout the old Contin- ent. Few of us perhaps realise that it is not much further from London to India by land than it ĝis from one point in Australia to another a little over 3,800 miles
and again, it may be asked if the Government of the Island. Continent can enable its people to send a telegram the enormous distance of 2,800 miles through the wastes and wildernesses for a penny a word, or sixteen words a shilling, what is there to prevent. the sending of a telegram from London to India by land at the some rate? Simply the "political frontier." We have reached the point of getting letters oarried across the continents of Europe and Asia to Hongkong at the penny postage rate, and this fact aloneshould encourage faithin the ultimate possibility of a realias- tion of Sir Henniker Heaton's
dream of penny-a-word telegrams throughout the Empire if there are Henniker Heatons who will continue to press the idea upon the Governments and peoples of the world-for "its dogged that does it."

The length, of human life is therefore deter minded by the progress of arterial decay, and whether its progress is spoedy or slow, is determined by the demands of one's cooups. tion and pastimes.
