Fire on the Minnesota,

A fire occurred on board the" Northern steamship Minnesota while lying in Yokohama harbour.. on March 11, a quantity of sal- phur which had just been ship- ped becoming ignited in the tween decks. The fire was soOON extinguished and the damaged eulphur discharged, the vessel sustaining no damage.

While passing through the Suez Canal on her way home from Shangbai on March 1, the steamer Brodstone struck the canal bank a sliding blow with her starboard bow. A survey was held on the vessel's arrival at Port Said, but as she was found to have sustain=" ed no damage, she proceeded on the same day.
