Palatial Rooms In East End of
London.
In one of those dismal streets. which intersect the two main highways in Limehouse and within a stone's throw of each other are two houses which have recently been opened for the use of victims of the opium habit, writes a correspondent of a Lon- don paper. They are rented by Chinese, and "run" by Chinees men who, as day succcada day, add to the already considerable fortude they have amassed from their drugstricken and helpless patrons. These dons have been called into being by the amazing increase in the number of those who seek oblivion and ultimate rain in the use of opiates.

The proprietors run other oplum dens, but these mor mognificent in their appointments and more luxurious in their mur- roundinge have been made pos sible by the growing number of well-to-do men who have given way to the deadly, and at one time almost exclusively Oriental, vice.
