is aware is now sitting. Having viewed the grand street reported that in a point of commercial value of the lot was viewed the value. Eight thousand dollars, but having regard to the object of the Government in securing the property it would doubtless be desirable to purchase it at a higher valuation.

that d. I think it very doubtful if the opinion of the Commission be correct as to the value of the ground. It was originally bought for $8,000 by the owners, who have materially improved the property, and are enjoying a percentage of 12 per cent on their outlay by rent received from the tenants of the buildings erected on the lot.

It so happens, too, that three years ago, when the necessity of incorporating the lot with the Police Compound was mentioned, the sum of $10,000 was summarily fixed as its price. Since that time the property has been improved, and cannot commercially be of less value than in 1886.

6. I called, however, upon my Executive Council to advise in the matter, and finding that they concurred in my opinion, I have ordered the payment of $10,000 to be made for the property, which will be available for Police purposes at the end of next March.
