yet applied to the Far East. The Eclipse was originally fitted with a 175 H.P. gasoline engine and engaged in the coasting trade of the Hawaiian islands but changed ownership in 1911 and
was
brought over to the Philippines for the Insular Transportation Co. The engines installed not giving satisfaction, it was decided in April of last year to make a change and the ype of engine finally selected was the Bolinders, one of 180 horee- power boing ordered from the makers in Stockholm. The en- gine arrived at the beginning of February and the work of install- ing it was carried out in the short period of eleven days. The trial trip was made on February 18 when a mean speed of 8 knots
