It on hardly be said that the year-end school-reports which have been published in the local press recently are entirely ereditable to Hongkong. His Excellency the vernor is the last man to throw cold water on any schemo or system that is intended to make for good; and the fact that he, though always generously ready with his praise, has found matter, in at least tworeports, which called for scarcely flattering comment, may be taken as a sign that all is not well in the Hongkong Educational world. With whom the fault lies it is not easy to say off-hand; but, even when we make the fullest allowance for the unavoidablo interruptions. to the school work of the last year or so, there remains the simple fact that Hongkong boys, whether Chinese or foreiga, have failed to give proof that the amount spent on their education has produced a satisfactory
