Now Fleet for Spain.
The Journal'e" Madrid cor- - raspondent states that a new Spanish squadron is planned for the near future, comprising three. Dreadnoughts of 21,000 tons each, two torpedo-boat destroyers of the latest type, nine ocean- going torpedo-boats, and three submarines. The vessels will be Spanish-built, and a commence- ment will be made at Ferrol directly the battleship Alfonso XIII. has been launchol. The battleship Espana will be taken over by the Navy in April. It is interesting to note the growing importance of Chin-. wangtao ana shipping port, soya the "P. and Times" of December 28. During the last few days there have been no less than ten steamers in port at the same time, repre- senting a gross registered tonnage of 23,311. These vessels discharg ed 3,000 tons of general cargo from Shanghai, Hongkong and Japan, and loaded 20,000 tons of coal, bricks and cement and 5,000 tons of general cargo for San Fran cisco, Japan, Shanghai, Swatow and Hongkong.
