Summer Epidemics in Osaka.

The number of onsos of dy-ng- tory nad typhoid fever have greatly increased in Osaka City during the past two months. From January to June 15 onses of dysentery and 202 cases of typhoid fever were reported, imi since the beginning of July 17 enses of dysentery and 351 conos of typhoid fever have been re- portai.

Blown Across the Pacific,

Sentence of Execution. A soutonco of death was passed in the mixed court Shanghai on August 10, rays the "Chinn Press," on a prisoner charged with two other Chinese with the murder of a woman on Saturdaoi night in wost Thibet rond.. The evidence showed that the con- demned. man, with the help of the other prisoners, strangled his wife and then attempted to carry her body into the outlying dis- tricts in a sack för burial. The court ordered tho husband to the Chinese city for execution and the other prisoners were sontoncod to five and two years' imprison- ment.
