Exciting Rescue.
The 8.8. Chowtai effected an exciting resoue on August 5 on her last trip from Hoihow, picking up a shipwrecked Annamite fisherman 30 miles off the coast of Annam. It was blowing s squall at the time and the sampan wha surrounded by big sharks. With great difficulty the sampan was brought alongsido and the man hoisted aboard with ropes.
He was in a very exhausted condition, and, after he recovered,. told his rescuers that he had been for four days in the sampan with- out food and water and that his mate had been washed over board and eaten by sharks."
