As regards the grant to St John's Cathedral, I will refer to A. Kennedy's despatch No. 28122 of the 3rd October. I will also enquire why the salary of the III Clerk in the Col: Sec: office has been increased from £400 to £250 without the previous sanction of the Sec: of State. I will defer approval of these two items till further information is received.
