I enclose for your Lordship
information the Certificate of Leave & burial required by the Colonial Regulations,
and beg to draw especial attention to the part which refers to the necessity for a residence in England of at least twelve months for Mr Sharp's immediate departure.
I hereby certify, that with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of Government,
I have granted to Edmund Sharp, Esquire, Crown Solicitor,
at Government House, Hongkong,
three Months leave of absence.

I hereby certify, that Edmund Sharp, Esquire,
has received Full Salary at the rate of £500 per Annum as Crown Solicitor, up to the 31th January, 1872.
Mr. Sharp has left Power of Attorney in the Colony to draw his half salary during his absence.

That the above leave was granted to commence on the 14th of February 1872 and end on the 14th August 1872, on the ground of ill health, and that the Medical Certificate was produced, of which a Copy is annexed.
