this being informed that the office of Colonial Surgeon has become vacant by the resignation of Dr J. Davy Murray, I would therefore humbly desire you to lay my application before His Excellency the Governor, for his consideration, and to the Right Honorable The Earl of Kimberley, the Secretary of State for the Colonies, with whom I understand the appointment rests.
