Happily, to the North of the Colony, at least, it is possible for ships to get into com- munication with the land by means of the wireless intallation provid- ed by the Japanese Government on the coast of Formosa, and it has on more than one occasion happened that the Japanese authoritios, by courteously re- transmitting by submarine cable: the messages thus received, havë | given to this Colony nows of the position of mail steamers which have been delayed by fog.
