I have received Sir R. MacDonnell's despatch 2° 931 of the 24th January, enclosing an application from Dr Dods for the appointment of Colonial Surgeon, in the event of Dr Murray's retirement from the Service.
You will inform Dr Dods that I will cause a note to be made of his application, and will at the proper time consider his claims with those of other Candidates, but that I cannot make any promise of compliance with his wishes.
