I beg to point out that I have had a long experience of Chinese practice and the Chinese, having had a large practice in Canton and Hongkong extending over a period of 10 years - that for over 3 years I had charge of a large Chinese Hospital and Dispensary in Canton, where between thirteen and fourteen thousand patients were treated annually - that I have some slight knowledge of the language, and that I have been acting Colonial Surgeon here for a space of one year.
I hope that you, Sir, will be able to support my application as you can testify to the readiness I have ever exhibited in the discharge of my public duties as Colonial Surgeon.
