Shipping Casualties. The extraordinary, persistence of the heavy gales and high s088 in Western European waters dur ing the past week, says the "Loader" of November 13, has re- sulted in a list of casualtion to ships longer than has been known for many years." The casualties are reported from the Baltio the Atlantic ports of North Ame rios. Thore is no doubt that the full extent of the damage done to shipping is not yet known. The loss of life has been considerable. Vessels have been reported daily. having had part of their orews waslied overboard.

Lloyd's shipping list has rarely boon so full of casualtios. It has contained three and evon five columns of trouble daily sineo last Monday. One day there were 70 craft reported damaged or lost. several with loss of life. Sailing

craft in large numbers have been dismasted, and have lost deck. loads, bulwarks, and deekhouses. Many steamers have bean swopt, carrying away gear, boats, and men, and have entered port with lists, through, cargoes shifting.
