Medical Certificate to Mr Thomas W. Barrington, Check and Usher of the Supreme Court:
We enclose for Your Lordship's information the Certificate of Leave required by the Colonial Regulations, and hope for Your Lordship's sanction of the Leave granted. At the same time, I do not think it advisable that the leave in question should be extended, because the antecedents of Mr. Barrington do not justify such indulgence, and it is possible, without some change in his habits, that extended leave may merely extend support by the funds of this Colony, without any reasonable chance of further efficient service from Mr. Barrington.
