Weird Religious Hoax In India.
One of the most extraordinary religious houzes ever. recorded ever, in India has just occurred in the northern part of Calcutta.
A pool of stagnant water formed from the accumulation of sowage from roadside drains guidonly bogan, according to the locul

the, rumour spread that the pool was holy and that a new goddess 'would soon rise from its waters to redeem the world.
The pool became a place of pil- grimage. Disensed people bathed in it and dronk of it, and those of uneasy conscienco "waslied away their sins in it. The water was carried away in jugs, phials and bottles, and a brisk trude sprang up. under the agis of an astute young Bengalee in selling the "holy "water" in alf parts of the city-at
