The Gross Profits of the Bank for the past. Holf-year, including you 1,187,789.02 brought forward from last account, amount to' yen 11,700,714.47, of which yen 8,767,386.63 have been deducted for Interests, Tuxos, Current Ex- penses, Robate on Bills Current,
Bad and Doubtful Debts, Bonus for Officers and Clerks, &c., loay- ing a balance of ven 2,033,327.84 for appropriation. '
The Directors now propose that yen 300,000.00 be added to the Reserve Fund, and recqinmiend a Dividend at the räts of Twelve por cont, per annum, which will absorb yon 1,440,000.00.”
The Balance, yen 1,103,327.84, will be carried forward to the credit of next account
Oplum at Shanghai. The "N. U. Daily News" says: -We are having an opium boom. The geuioral public has no concern in it as, win or lose, it affects only a few. The stocks. here are hold in strong hands who would not sell now. Only 195 cheats are being sold at the Calcutta montlı- ly auctions up to December, but the Government of India bax awarded certificates for 5,000 chests destined for China. Ovol 4,000 chests are on the way and the rest will be shipped soon. What effects the arrival of those will have on the market we can only conjecture.
