Such orders therefore deemed inexpedient or illegal, I took measures to have corrected.
The production however of the covering letter and the perusal of the column marked "Result" threw new light on the subject.
In order therefore to place the matter clearly before His Excellency, I have caused a column to be added to a return.
The returns called for by His Excellency the Governor will supplement and, also, modify Mr. Rice's convictions on the subject of the character and capabilities of the West Indians, whom he enlisted.
