During the years 1870 and 1871, there have been imported from Bombay 19,579 Chests (each weighing one picul) 19,579 piculs of Malwa Opium; and from Calcutta, 81,201 Chests (each weighing one picul and twenty catties) 93,441 piculs of Bengal Opium.
Thus the grand total shows an importation of 160,780 Chests, or 177,020 piculs of Opium, during the said period of two years. It may be, however, noted that the
