During the last three months the averago monthly cash quota- tion has varied less than one- eighth of a penny. We attributo this lack of elasticity to the readiness on the part of the Indian speculativo group to sell part of their stock to the Indian bazaars whenever the prico sliows a tendency to rise, notwith- standing the heavy losa conso-
quent upon these sulos.
Our last advices from India in- form us that almost the whole of the stock in Bombay belongs to the group in question; this is, of course, exelusive of their heavy holdings on this side, Tho absenco of speculative interest in other quarters is marked. The Tuesday, Aug. 22. Saturday, Fopt. 16.ufftako in India has dropped to 75 Sept. 80% bars a day, and the stock his fallen slightly to about 10,800 bars, whilst that in Shanghai Las • · increased by £180,000.
