I am obliged to His Excellency the Governor and the Members of his Council for the condolence expressed at my present state of health and for the leave granted.

Not having been favoured with the grounds on which the Council has concluded that the period of six months is the limit of leave grantable, I thank His Excellency for the reference of my application for the longer period of 10 months to his Lordship the Secretary of State. In the meantime, my thanks are due for the leave granted and for the terms in which you have expressed it.

In case my health shall permit it, I should prefer to return to my duties at the end of six months.

I referred to one case as alone remaining undisposed of and that for special reasons, and I expressed my intention to deliver judgment fully. The case was argued by Mr. Wayllar for...
