TESTIMONIALS.

From Major-General GEORGE NAPIER, C.B., lately Commanding a Division in Canada.

MY DEAR MOLLAN,

CAMP, ALDERSHOT:

5th August 1856.

I cannot give up my command here without offering you my best thanks for the valuable assistance I have always received from you during the time you have been my Brigade-Major, and I can only say that I trust you will be kept on for the good of the service, as well as your own, and I feel quite sure your new Brigadier will be as sorry to lose you as I am.

Pray let me know if I can be of any use to you at the Horse Guards at any time, and I shall be very glad indeed to do all in my power to forward your views.

Major Moran,

Brigade Major.

Believe me, dear Mollan,

Ever yours sincerely, (Signed)

GEORGE NAPIER, Col.,

Commanding 3rd Brigade.

GOVERNMENT HOUSE, DEVONPORT! 2nd February 1867.

MY DEAR MOLLAN,

From my long acquaintance with your military acquirements both as a Staff and Regimental Officer, I can with much pleasure safely give my opinion as to your fitness for the appointment of Chief Constable, which you tell me you are anxious to obtain.

With our united kind regards,

Lieut-Col. MOLLAN, C.B.

Yours very truly,

AUGS SPENCER,

M.-General.

From Brigadier-General Sir ALFRED HORSFORD, K.C.B., Commanding the Dublin Division.

DUBLIN:

10th February 1867.

MY DEAR MOLLAN,

I sincerely hope you will succeed in your wishes; and what is more, I can surely say that should you be appointed, those who have the power of naming you will never regret their selection.

Having known you as a Staff Officer at Aldershot, and having also had you for some time on my own Staff in India, I may be permitted to say that I know no man better fitted for the situation of Chief Constable.

Believe me

Yours very sincerely, (Signed)

A. HORSFORD.

From Major-General the Honourable Sir A. A. SPENCER, K.C.B.

MY DEAR MOLLAN,

I have very great pleasure in giving my testimony of your efficiency as a Staff Officer. During the time you were my Brigade-Major I was particularly well satisfied with your attention, and capability; and as you were, I think, at Aldershot at the first formation of the Camp, I am aware that your duties then must have been more arduous and requiring much greater intelligence and activity.

Yours very truly,

My dear Mollan. (Signed)

AUGS SPENCER,

M.-General.

From General W. T. KNOLLYS, lately Commanding the Aldershot Division.

DEAR MAJOR MOLLAN,

ALDERSHOT!

13th June 1857.

It gives me sincere pleasure to state, in the event of such a statement being of any use in forwarding advancement in your profession hereafter, that I had the greatest reason to be satisfied with the manner in which you performed your Staff duties during the time you were under my command at Aldershot.

On my first assuming it, you were the only Staff Officer attached to the Command, and as the regiments of Militia successively arrived in Camp, your duties, as a matter of course, became more laborious. They were, however, performed with the greatest zeal and cheerfulness, as well as satisfactorily in every other point of view. I considered myself much indebted to you for your exertions; and should be truly pleased if this acknowledgment of them led to anything of more substantial value.

Believe me

Yours very truly, (Signed)

W. KNOLLYS.

ROSSANA, WICKLOW:

3rd February 1867. DEAR COLONEL MOLLAN,

Understanding that you are a candidate for the office of Chief Constable of Glamorganshire, which is now vacant, I sincerely hope that you may succeed in obtaining the office, as I feel sure, from your efficiency as a Magistrate in the County of Kilkenny, and from the numerous testimonials that you possess, that you will be a very proper person to hold such an office.

We came here yesterday on our way home.

(True copies.)

(Signed)

Believe me

Yours sincerely,

W. F. TIGHE.
