I have the honor to regress
That you will be good enough to grant me an extension of leave, for six months, from the 19th of January next, with a view to retirement from the Service.
26 years residence in China, of which 12 have been devoted to the Public Service, have so far affected my health, as to render Retirement necessary, both in my own opinion and in that of my medical advisors.
I have the honor to request that you will be good enough to recommend me for such a scale of Pension, as you consider my services deserve.
