Since then the excitement has subsided, and prices on the whole ara fower. Hongkong, 19th-August. Our last report was dated the 5th inst, per 5.3 Ausaja, stace when the same quiel tono prevalled for the first few days of the fortnight In our Yarn market. But subsequently report ed improvement in the prices of American Cot. ton soon reflected the flombay market, where the prices are raid to be fikswise advanced, Knowing these facts and coupled with the pre- sent cheap rates ruling here some of the big buyers pat la un appearance in the market and at upco commenced to make purchases with the result that the sales of about 3,400 bales have been recorded in the period. Demand bes run principally on most favourite chops of Nos. 103 and is counts. Partly having saifi. ed with their requirements and partly by the tightness of money the Chinese deslers lately abow great reluctance to operate, consequently the market at the close remains quiet but stendy.
No. 6.A very small business done at de- clining rates.
No. 8. There has been an absence of demand from the country lo spite of the choop prices ruling.
No. 10s, & 125.-The bulk of the sales bat been done in these two counts; la some Instances at lower tales.
No.65-Small rates et quotations, No. 209-Owing to the cheap selling in our market of Japanese yard, this coat has been very difficult to mova svon at cheap rates, nominal sales pul through.
