My Lord,
I have the honor respectfully to submit for your Lordship's approval this application for a public month's extension of leave from the 10th June next, the date of expiration of that granted by His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong.
I beg to enclose Certificate showing the time that I have had the honor of serving in the Harbor Master's Department in that Colony, and trust that viewing my long services your Lordship will be pleased to bestow the desired favor.
I shall be obliged if your Lordship will kindly return the annexed Certificate.
