My Lord,

I have the honor to

report that the 8 months leave of

absence granted to me from my

station (Hong Kong) will expire

on the 29th April next and to make application for an

extension thereof for 12 months from

that date on the ground of Ten (10)

years residential service in

the Colony and the effects of the relaxing Climate

of England on my constitution.

The accompanying document will

confirm the above statement.

I have the honor to be,

The Right Honble

The Earl of Kimberley,

Your Lordship's

most obedient humble Servant

John Gissart
