Besides the ordinary reports, and accounts of expeditions he published a list of the plant of Fenang in the Journal of the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society and 'a Latin-Malay list of plant names in the same Journal. He also wrote a number of articles on agriculture in the Bulletin, chiefly dealing with his ex- periments and observations on rubber, gotta percha, and many other economics: The foundation of the series of agricultural ex- hibitions on, a large and more general scale than they were formerly held was due to his, initiative. He was made a fellow of the Lineso Society for his contributions in botanical science.
