In reference to your letter of the 1st April, I'm directed by the Earl of Kimberley to inform you that the Crown Agents, whose address is stated in the margin, will be instructed to secure a passage for you to Shanghai either in the Peninsular & Oriental Co's Steamer leaving Southampton on the 13th or by some other steamer leaving England about the same date.
The Crown Agents will also be authorized to pay you the sum of £30 on account of outfit, and you should place yourself in communication...
