This was a disappointment. The Malden Stakes produced an exciting Bolsh between Maple Tres na Silvarton, and was won by the former | by a bare beck Mr. Baxsy's Dwarf Rose, who was much fancied, was nowhere in the race. There were six starters for the next race the Victoria Stakes and went to last year's Derby winner, who was far too superior to the rest of the fold. Little Gem Rose's time ní 2/04'established' a record for this race. The Valley Stakor was a time race and was secured by Mas-Man with. out difficulty, be making the best of a poor start in which he had the advantaga of several lengths from Cobalt. After this race there was |an interval for luncheon.

After the tifo adjournment only three ponies the smallest field of the day started for the Foochaw Cup. It was an uninteresting ovent and was won hands down by Mr. Vida on Palm Tree From start to faish Persimmon Treo practically had the race to himself, but lost to Royal Ross at the last streich through Mr. Vida despising the chances of Royal Rose who, with Mr. Burkill in the saddia managed to beat his opponent by ball length. The field for the Garrison Cup was a large one, and the start splendid. After a most exciting anish bonours were shared between Cadrow's Fame and Warrior Rose. Mrs. 1. H. N. Mody led Warrior Rose into the weighing-in stand, while Mr. T. F. Hough led his Fame in. Both run off alter the last race of the day and was won by Cadrow's Fame. Mr. Buxey declared the best of the Roses to win in the Profession. al Cup. Mr. Johnstone, by clever jockeyabip, by five lengths. Kirkpatrick. Even though feeling, lightly uncomfortable, M. Burkill stuck to his mount and galloped over the mile course on Little Gems Rose. He did not feel quite himself ou returning to the stable and we yesterday attended to for the binises which he sustained on the back. Turf frequenters ware glad to welcome the Shanghai visitor on the training course again.this morn- ing and were happior still to learn that Mr Burkill feeling almon himself again to-day The hope is general that when the cloves Shinghal jockey gets into the pig-kin tomorrow he will be in the best of conditions and carry the blue-and-white stripes past the winging post with the honours he has done in previous years..
