POUNDED IN HONOUR. No doubt you have seen in the such papers announcements a thin-concerning, some medicine or other:-"If, on trial, you write that this medicine has done you no good we will refund your money."-Now, we have never had reason to speak in that way concerning the remedy named in this article. In a trade extending throughout the world, nobody has aver complained that our medicine has failed or asked for the return of his money. The public never grumbles at honestly and skillfully made bread, or at a medicine which really and actually does what it was made to do. The foundations of

Halley's comer, which is making such a stir in the astronomical world, is still a very faint object in the heavens and cannot be seen ex- cept through a good-sized telescope of about 6 or 7 inches aperture. Very few amateurs are likely to possess instruments of this is, and they will have to wait sometimo longer before the comet" swims into their ken," Jei still several buadred millions of miles away from us, and only an astronomer can distinguish it at all in the telescope, from the surrounding faint stam. But it is approaching us rapidly, at the sale of about 1 millions of miles a day, and so should steadily" Brighten up, Os December 1, it was very close to the star
on Aldebaran and of the brightness of the. 13th magnitude. It may now be looked for in the constellation Taurus, sonte distance west of Aldebaran and south of Pleiades...
The most recent calculations on the notion
of the comet indicate April 20, 1910, as the day of perihelion passage-that is, is n ill be nearest to the sun on that day. But more than a hoo dred millions of miles will still separe it from the carb, and only a month later, on May zo, will it be closest to us, when there will be 141 millions of miles distance between us, and afterwards the distance will increase. A comet may be expected to make the best show in the sky when it is nearest us, but unfortunately in this case, it happens to be in conjunction with the sat about that time. However, we are promised other interesting phenomesa to make up for it. It is possible that the comet may transit across the olar, diac on the morning of the 19th May and should be visible in India if that occurs. There is also a very possible likelihood of the earth passing through a part of the tail of the comet at the same time. This will, indeed, be a strange expirience for us and will be looked forward to by many."
But it is as likely we may not even police it, but for the astronomér vouching for it, for comclary tails are to tenuous that perhaps
