As spinning companies receive from the Spinners Association a bounty of 3 per bale exported, this price was wel Comed by them, It is explained that owing to the advance in the price of raw cotton the Tudian spinsing, mil's have suspendad the export of yarn to China in order to force up the. market for their yarn and thus maintain a balance with the price of raw cotton, This bas résulted in the scarcity of stock of coarse yarn in' China, which bas enhanced, the price of Indian yarn, and Chinese dealers in Shanghai have consequently sent their orders to Japan. The stock of yarns où the Shanghai market on the latest date advised was 53,0zo balas of Indian, ,000 bales of Japanese, and 3500 bales of Chinese yarn. Thus the stock of Japanese and Chinese yarns on the market is small, but though that of Indian yaro casuot be called scarce,' bolders are not inclined to part with their stock in view of the suspeñalos of export from ládia and the high price of raw colton; as, they expect Indian yarn to rise still higher in price.

It is stated that the largest buyers from Já. panese spinning companies are the Mitsui Ba 180, Naigwai Wata, Handa, and Japan Raw Cotton Companies, and the activity in Osaka has affected the Tokyo market. The qualities of yarn contracted for. are ro's, 12's, 14's, 16's, and 20's, 21 the yarn is wanted as a 'substitute MARBLE-TOP DRESSING TABLE and WASHSTAND for ladian yarn. It is now reported that as the re sult of an investigation by a Japanese expert of wireless telegraph stations on the Pacific Coast of America, it has been agreed to make, a' trial communication between America and Japan- a distance of about 5,000 nautical miles—which is regarded as simost unprecedented.' in the present state of wireless telegraphy, however, it is regarded as doubtful whether the experi meat will prove successful. If it does succeed the eyeat will create a new record in the his-' tory of communication. Even if only the ex- periment between Hawaii and Japan succeeds, a close connection 'will have been established between Japan and America, as the distance between Hawaii and America, being so mora than 2,000 nautical miles, has already been covered by wireless telegraphy,
Some days ago the steamer Akd-mars, on her way from America to Japan; successfully dis patched a message to the Ochial Wireless Telegraph Station on the Pacific coast of Japan, the distance being about 2,350 nautical miles. Hitherto it bad generally been thought that the apparatus on board Japanese steamers could not dispatch messages beyond a distance of 2,000 miles, but this has now been disproved, so it is hoped that even the proposed trial com munication between Americs and Japan will be successful.—Japan Chronicli.
