I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to

acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st ult.

and to acquaint you in reply, that Messrs Cox & Co have been authorised to pay to the Crown Agents for the Colonies, the sum of £187: 13.6 being subsistence for soldiers confined in the Victoria Gaol, Hong Kong, during the year ended 31st December 1870.
