THE latest news from Sir Havilland de Snus. manes is that he and Lady de Saumarez are la good health and that they expect to leave Guernsey towards the end of August, in time to catch the Italo from Moscow on September 1. A TELEGRAM from Fonzose to the Japanese Home Dapartment reports that a storm broke out in Formosa on the 9th lnstant, as a result of which 544 houso have been flooded, a Japan. ese being drowned. The public roads were damaged in a places, to the extent of about 1,223 Tool.

INSTRUCTIONS have lately been ired to all commanders of the Canadian Pacific Rallway Company's vessels on the trans-Pacific service, that, on arriving at Yokohama on the west bound trip, they abould have in readiness'a -full statement of all wireless.telegraphic mess- ages exchanged en route either with the Em. Presses or with Nippon Yusen Kaisha steamers. Particulars of position will be given of time during which the two ships were in communi- cation and any other items. of public la ierest. Similar statemente are also to be got ready far the vessels' arrival at Shanghai and Hongkong and the Information will be immediately banded out to the newspapers for publication. In the same way reports of messages exchanged on the eastward trip are to be prepared for delivery at Yokohama and Vancouver. The convenience of this arrange. mant from the point of view of the travelling public speaks for itself.
