After the cases of the "Don Juan" or "Dolores Nyurte", and of the "Nouvelle Penelope" the attention of the Portuguese Government was called to the evils consequent on the System of Coolic Immigration at Macao. Their answer is that Emigration from Hongkong is as bad or worse; that salutary alterations are being introduced into the Macao system; and that Judge Imale by his decision in the "Krook-a-sing" case, showed (or stated) his wish to put an end to emigration from Macao.

The papers had better be referred to the Emigration Commissioner's requesting them to draw up a reply to the party accusations brought against emigration from Hongkong. Suffice it that we can take no notice of the remarks...
