A very large supply of patroleum is now required, and, without it, many useful fighting onits of the Navy would be rendered absolutely ineffective. At present little or no petroleum is won and 'gotten within the British Empire, and the Royal Navy is supplied almost entirely from the United States of America. No large sup- ply of fuel oil is collected and stored, and there. is rarely at any time more than three months' supply in hand to meet the demand for oil fuel for navel purposes, a demand which is, it must be remembered, ever increasing."
