adding that Lord Kimberly is glad to learn that Mr Robertson agrees with Sir R. Macdonnell in opposing the Wales' Custom house scheme. And (?) and that as the Chinese Govt are not at present urging the aft of a consul at Hongkong, it does not seem necessary to enter into that question at present.?

In accordance with my instructions regarding the correspondence with the Chamber of Commerce Hongkong, I submit that as they give the Chamber credit for its anxiety for the preservation of amicable relations between Great Britain and Portugal, still it appears that the trade of Hongkong has more to do with political considerations,
important as they may be.
