The report, dated 5th May. 1929, of Mr. F J. Barteley, superintendent, Fire Brigade, for 1908, was laid on the table of the Legislative Council last Thursday afternoon. It reads:-

There are 34 despatch boxes-kept in dif. ferral places in Victoria and 9 in Kowloon, 8 different telephones to which the Police can have access to communicate with Central Station in the event of a fire and 16 fire alarms. The conduct of the brigade has been good.

THE DALIMITATION OF MACAO. As the Portuguese Delimitation Commis sioner, General Joachim Machado, has arrived, with whom negotiations are expected to be conducted very shortly by H.E. Ko Ya Him, Chinese Special Commissioner, the Canton Society for the Protection of Boundry Kights has now convened a public meeting to be held on the 27th instant at the leading assembly, hall (Ming Luen Toog) for the purpose of providing all possible information to H.E. Ko preparatory to the proceedings in connection with the vexed question.

DARING GANG ROBBERY.
Tak, there lived a wealthy man named Chan In Kwelchow village, in the district of Shun Ming Suck. On the 27th instant, at 8 o'clock in the evening, a gang of robbers numbering about two hundred, attacked Chan and ranunck ed his house, whencs the robbers removed all the valuable articles that they could get buld of. The propalty stolen is said to be worth aver ten thousand dollars. To prevent them. selves from being kido ipped. Cháy, his wife and children hid themselves in another bouse, which was so strongly butt and barred that the robbers could not succeed in breaking through the entrance. After trying for about half ac hour to reach the inmates and failing to do so, the robbers cmplied a few tios of kerosena oil into the building and set it on fire The house was completely burnt down and all the inmates seven in all, perished in the flames. As the robbers were in overwhelming numbers the village militia felt scared and made no at. tempt to arrest the marauders. The case has now been,szported to the Canton officials.
