A THREE YEARS' MONOPOLY OFFERED.
In view of the oplum controversy the follow- lag notification appearing in the current insus of the Gürɛffe la interesting:-
Notice is hereby given that Sealed Ten dera will be received at the Colonial Secre- tary's Office, Hongkong, till Noon on Tuesday, the stat day of August, 1909, for the purchase of the privileges known as the Oplam Farm catablished under "The Prepared Oplum Ordi. naucer, 1891-1959", that is to say, the sole pri- vilege of preparing Oplum, and of Selling, within the Colony, (including the New Tarti tories), Opium se prepared, inclusive of the privilege of collecting dross and of preparing and dealing in Dross Opium, for three years from the 1st of March, 1910.
Full information as to conditions of tender. ing, etc., can be obtained from the Colonial Treasurer.
CONDITIONS OF TENDERING,
1. No tender will be received unless the ten derey produces a receipt from the Treasurer for-
(i.) A deposit of $30,000, or of Title Deeds, or other approved" socurities to à like amount, and
(ii) An agreement, to be executed by him on a form provided by the treasurer, to the affect that, if he should decline to accept a grant of the Farm on the terms of the tender seit in by him or fail to -give-the-prescribed security for ruch- grant, such deposit or securities shall be forfeited to the Crown.
Such deposit must be completed not later than noon on the 30th day of August, 1909.
A large incoring basin is available alongside our own works for mourir, vessels whilst All deposits will be returned to unsuccessful under repairs.
