AN EARTHQUAKE.
UNCOMMON IN SINGAPORE.
At about a quarter to two yesterday morning Singapore was visited by an earthquake, but so far as we have learned no damage was done, reports the Fria Prète of. 5th inst.
The general method of appreciation of the quake, was by sleepers being awakened by a shaking of their bed. Many thought it might be someone walking about in their room, but the lateness of the bour and the absence of all signs of life dispelled that idea. Those who have been in earthquakes before, notably in Japan, immediately appreciated the situation and awaited in some trepidation the develop. ments, Fortunately they were not serious.
